Besilen® (Silicone) Jacket Material Overview
Besilen® - Elastomere on a Silicone Base
Besilen® is a registered trademark of SAB Bröckskes GmbH & Co. KG. This specially developed silicone rubber-based material offers excellent electrical properties and heat resistance. In addition to our standard Besilen® product range, we also manufacture specialized solutions tailored to meet specific requirements, such as:
• notch resistance for better mechanical strength
• Besilen® - mixture compatible for the food industry
• higher temperature resistance +250°C
• conductive Besilen® for anti-static conductance
Mechanical Characteristics of Silicone Cables
Vulcanized Besilen®, with a Shore hardness of 50-60 A, is highly elastic and offers excellent mechanical strength. Another notable feature of Besilen® is that it does not adhere to adhesive surfaces.
• non-adhesive
• hydrophobic (water repellent)
When Besilen® cables are used in tube systems, it is important that the tubes are ventilated and open. Otherwise, the mechanical strength of Besilen® may be compromised.
Chemical Characteristics
The unique chemical composition of Besilen®, which differs from standard rubber types, imparts several exceptional characteristics to our product, including:
• outstanding hot air resistance
• extreme flexibility at low temperatures (down to -40°C)
• oxygen resistant
• ozone-proof
• halogen-free
• weather resistant
• resistant to decomposition from substances such as alcohol and high molecular oils, plant and animal fats, dilutes acids, softeners, chlophen, alkalis and salt solutions
Electrical Characteristics of Silicone Cables
| The unique chemical composition of Besilen®, which differs from standard rubber types, imparts several exceptional characteristics to our product, including: | |
| Dielectric constant: | approx. 3.2 (at 800 Hz) |
| Specific volume resistance: | min. 1012Ω x cm |
| Break-down voltage: | 20 kV/mm |
Exemplary Applications of Besilen® Cables
For applications in railway engineering, measurement and control engineering, metallurgical and steel industries, power and rolling mills, lamp and light manufacturing, cement, glass, and ceramics processing, as well as heating, refrigeration, and air conditioning systems, Besilen® is highly suitable. It is also used in saunas, foundries, plastic processing, heaters, coke plants, thermal and process engineering, engine construction, dust extraction systems, ventilators, system heat engineering, wood and paper processing, the electrical industry, drive technology, switchgear and distribution panels, and textile machine construction.
