Application and Use in Buildings

•  In case the cables are placed in shafts, two different methods are recommended:
•  Placement of cables from the machine room
When placing cables from the machine room, they must be guided into the shaft in the winding direction. To prevent deformation, a second person should be positioned in the pit to assist with the installation using a cord.
•  Placement of cables from the shank pit or the first stop
In this method, the winding direction for unwinding must be strictly followed.
Note: Regardless of the method used, cables should be pulled in with minimal bending. To prevent torsion or buckling, careful handling during placement is essential.
•  To ensure a torsion-free installation, the cable must be suspended freely for 12 hours in the shaft before final fixation. The lower end of the cable must not rest on or come into contact with the pit sole. If the cable is longer, the lower end (at least 0.3 m above the sole) should be looped or weighted. Any material can be used as a weight, but it should not exceed 15% of the cable’s total weight. After suspension, cables should be marked parallel to the shaft wall and on the same side to facilitate a twist-free fixation.

Hanging Up of the Cables

•  If the cables are pulled into the shaft, they must be unwound tangentially from the drum. Axial unwinding can introduce torsions in the cable, which may lead to operational disturbances.
•  The free space between the lift cabin and the shaft bottom must be sufficient and fully utilized for the cable loop height. Cables should be suspended from the lift cabin following the natural curvature.
•  A natural hanging diameter of the loop must be ensured.

Fixing of the Cables

•  Large-surface clamps must be used for cable fixing at all times. The jacket must not be squeezed, and the clamp should be securely seated on a large surface. At least one suspension is required at the shaft head and the lift cabin. Additionally, the carrying element must be supported separately at both cable ends. If the suspended cable length exceeds 40 m, an additional suspension should be installed at the midpoint of the shaft.
•  The fixing point at the shaft wall must be at least 2 m above the middle of the travel. Fixing points at the lift or shaft wall must be arranged perpendicularly to the cable’s runoff plane and aligned parallel to the rail axis at equal distances.
•  If unsteady running behavior occurs—where the cable moves out of the fall line during operation—the control cable must be slightly twisted at one of the fixing points until it runs properly.
Note: The cable run should be rechecked after the initial lift operation.
•  If multiple control cables are required for the lift installation, they should be suspended with a level difference of approximately 15 cm between loops for optimal operation (step-by-step hanging).
•  Cables must remain untied along their suspended length to ensure free movement.

General Notes

•  Cables must only be used within the temperature ranges specified in their specifications.
•  The inner bending radius must not be smaller than the cable diameter stated in the specification. Additionally, the specified bending radius of the cable must be strictly maintained.
•  The maximum suspension length depends on the carrying element within the cable, as specified, and must not be exceeded.
•  To ensure optimal performance and longevity of lift control cables, they must be handled and installed with the utmost care.

Installation of Construction Lift Cables for Basket Applications

General Notes

•  Mount the cable carefully to ensure proper installation.
•  Unwind the required cable length tangentially from the reel and place it on the ground without introducing torsions.
•  Guide the necessary cable length into the connection box by feeding it from the top to the bottom of the basket, then routing it through the basket bottom to the connection box.
•  Layer the cable into the basket in a clockwise or counterclockwise direction as specified in the extended mounting instructions.
•  Connect the cable to the lift.
•  Run a full cycle of the lift.
•  Inspect the cable for any faults. If figure-eight loops or excessive undulation appear, untie the cable from the lift side and rotate it axially until the issue is corrected. Recheck the cable for any remaining faults.
•  If the cable remains fault-free after a complete cycle, the lift can begin operation.
Note: When the lift reaches its maximum extension (highest point), some layers of the cable must still remain in the basket.
